Water is the driving force of life on this planet. It is essential for our health, well-being, for food production, urban and industrial water supplies as well as hydropower.
Current global trends, such as population and economic growth as well as climate change exert increasing pressure on water resources worldwide. Only two of three people have access to clean water and sanitation which causes unnecessary disease and death. Moreover, water can turn into a danger to life: be it an enduring shortage of drinking water or an unexpected flooding.
SDGs 3 and 6 as well as 13, 14 and 17 of Agenda 2030 will be targeted in this workshop. We take a holistic approach considering both technical and socioeconomic problems in a globalized world.
How can water-related ecosystems be protected and water resources managed sustainably? Water and sanitation for all people needs to be ensured on a regional, national and international scale.
